 Buttercup Summer Garden Camp

July 1 - 5 and July 8 - 12

9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
For children ages 3 ½ to 6
$175 per week

Summer Camp Afternoon Program Note: If we have interest in an afternoon program for our morning summer camps, we will design a relaxed afternoon for those children who stay. We encourage interested families to contact Melissa Hoy, bookkeeper@merriconeag.org, as soon as possible.

Our Buttercup Summer Garden Camp is led by Kelly Barham with help from Crary Chandler on our beautiful Early Childhood campus in Freeport. Buttercup campers are lovingly held in a gentle, nature-filled environment that immerses them in magical play and discovery. There is lots of time for crafts, water play, digging in the sandbox, walking the woodland paths and playing games.

Kelly Barham is currently a Kindergarten Assistant and the Afternoon Program Teacher at Merriconeag. She has been working with children since she became the oldest of 5 at the age of 12. She went on to work with all ages, from pre-schoolers to at-risk teens.

Kelly discovered Waldorf education 15 years ago and has been fascinated by it ever since. Two of her children attended Waldorf schools from kindergarten through grade 9, and her youngest is now in grade 5 at Merriconeag. Kelly's husband, David, teaches in the high school.  Kelly is also currently studying homeopathic medicine and weaving one of a kind clothing for her business, Bound for Glory Textiles.

Crary Chandler is the Afternoon Program Assistant at Merriconeag. She was a student in Kristina Farm-Morrill's kindergarten and Lee Chisholm's grade school class at Merriconeag. After graduating from 8th grade here in 2003, she attended high school at The Governor's Academy (previously Governor Dummer Academy). Crary then attended Hobart & William Smith Colleges where she graduated with a major in Environmental Studies and minors in Asian Studies and Economics. She also rowed on the William Smith Crew Team for four years!
